Level 2 Highways Maintenance

  • Learning Block at college (travel and accommodation paid by company)
  • Support to obtain Level 2 Maths/English
  • Duration: 18 months
  • Working outside using protection to obtain practical experience
  • Minimum Entry Requirement:  Level 1 English (GCES 2 or E)

 

 

Operative: Our Operatives are highly skilled, carrying out general maintenance, surfacing, street lighting and other works and operations on the highway network. The role involves not only carrying out the work but ensuring it is done safely; as well as liaising with local residents and road users when necessary.  

Level 2 Groundwork

  • Learning Day at college
  • Support to obtain Level 2 Maths/
  • English
  • Duration: 18 months
  • Working outside using protection to obtain practical experience
  • Minimum Entry Requirement:  Level 1 English (GCES 2 or E)

 

Supervisor: The Supervisor’s role is to support the Site Agent or Contracts Manager in the effective running of local sites as well as our depots. This includes site supervision, people management, stock levels, site inspections and above all, ensuring high levels of safety.  

Level 3 Highways Electrician

  • Learning Day at college
  • Duration: 24 months
  • Working outside using protection to obtain practical experience
Minimum Entry Requirement:  Level 2 Maths and English

Streetlighting Operative install, maintain, inspect and test low voltage highway electrical equipment and systems (e.g. street lighting, traffic signals, safety cameras)Carry out emergency attendance and emergency works (e.g. where a car has hit a streetlight)

There are many administration roles throughout Ringway in a wide variety of areas including Finance, Office Management, Plant & Fleet, Human Resources, Payroll, Commercial and Operations.  

Level 3 Safety, Health Environment

 

  • Online or learning day at college
  • Duration: 24 months
  • Minimum Entry Requirement: Level 2 Maths and English

 

Health and Safety Advisors promote a positivesafety culture, ensuring construction projectscomply with legislation and industry standards.You will assist in the preparation of health andsafety documents such as risk assessments andmethod statements. A large proportion of yourtime will be spent out on site identifyingpotential risks and promoting best practice tohelp change the way people think and work to prevent accidents from happening

Level 4 or 6 Quantity Surveyor

  • Learning Day at University
  • Duration: 60 months duration
  • Qualification: BSc Quantity Surveyor
  • Minimum Entry Requirement: A Levels

 

Quantity Surveyors control the costs andfinances of a construction project. You willusually be based in the site office, andwill go on site to do measurements to find outquantities of materials required. You willnegotiate rates and set up contracts withsubcontractors such as bricklaying,groundwork and mechanical engineeringcompanies. Good maths skills and aknowledge of contract law is useful.

Level 4 or 6 Construction Site Supervisor  

  • Day or Block Release at University
  • 60 months duration
  • Obtain BEng Civil Engineering
  • Professional Membership with ICE (Institute of Engineers)
  • Minimum Entry Requirement A Levels

As a Site Agent you will supervise the efficient and effective running of our Operational activities, meeting all safety, environment and quality obligations. The role includes working with the client, carrying out site supervision and ensuring works are completed to specification.

 

Contracts Manager Our colleagues in these roles manage all day-to-day operational aspects of the contract. This includes assisting in the pre-planning and pre-programming of tendered contracts, managing and promoting Safe Working processes, managing resources, liaison with residents and clients when needed, always working within the constraints and specification of each contract.
