We received more than 1000 call outs during the weekend of the storm. Major disruptions were caused throughout the UK with several key routes affected.

All our teams began preparation early on Friday as the yellow weather warning kicked emergency processes into action ensuring we were prepared for the heavy gusts over the weekend with winds reaching speeds of 56mph.

Our crews responded to incidents including hundreds of fallen trees, areas of flooding, instances of potholes and surface damage, along with addressing additional hazards like fallen private fences, debris and damaged ironwork to maintain safe roads.

To meet the rising demand, Ringway deployed extra resources, including additional A&E crews, tree surgeons, and traffic management crews to deal with the need for traffic management and temporary traffic lights.

Phil Aherne, a local Surrey resident said, “Thank you for your help. I really appreciate the help you and your boys did to help me. Horses are back in and safe, my wife is now happy and calm, although it was a very long day and we had a small hiccup, your lads stayed and helped beyond what they needed to do. And coming from a bloke who finds it hard to ask for help and tries to do everything myself, I can't thank you enough. Many thanks.”

Storm Darragh, comes just two weeks after Storm Bert. Our response to such disruptive weather shows how our commitment to keeping our communities safe and maintaining a connected highways network.  Thank you to our dedicated and efficient team who once again who worked tirelessly to ensure community safety and minimize further disruptions.
