In preparation for the visit, the Ringway team at Milton Keynes spent a number of hours planning with Milton Keynes City Council, which resulted in setting out the traffic management and providing gate duties and crowd control to support Thames Valley Police. On the day of the visit, our teams provided:

  • 7 Traffic Management Operatives
  • 7 Traffic Management Vehicles
  • 50 hours of physical prepping, and being on the site Operationally
  • 100 Traffic Cones
  • 30 lengths of Pedestrian barrier
  • 5 Advanced warning signs
  • 5 Road Closed signs
  • 3 Road Ahead Closed Signs
  • 300 lengths of Crowd Control Barrier
  • 100 sandbags
  • Approximately 175 uniformed Police

Following the smooth running of the event, Ross Gehnich, MK LPA Stop & Search Manager of Thames Valley Police, said: "I just wanted to pass on a massive thank you to you and your team. The barrier operation was an integral part of delivering a safe visit and the flexibility around support, additional barriers at the food bank and some minor changes on the day at the church was really appreciated. Please can you pass on my personal thanks to the team."

 

Contracts Manager, Darren Smith, said: "To be part of King Charlies III's visit to celebrate Milton Keynes as City Status was an honour. The teamwork and collaboration, both internally and externally, between ourselves, Milton Keynes City Council and Thames Valley Police was as amazing achievement. A huge well done to all involved, both on the front line and the background staff."

Traffic management vehicle specialist Acklea has introduced a zero-emission electric-powered model to extend its range of recyclable plastic-bodied 7.2t commercial vehicles. It is the UK's first electric traffic management vehicle of this size.
